Just a few brief thoughts today that I wanted to post yesterday but couldn’t find time to write up.
This should be an obvious insight but somehow it gets missed. Leaders do not lead projects or initiatives – they lead people. And that means that people skills are vital for effective leadership. Communication – both listening and presenting – is crucial for strong leadership so that the team or company being led understands both what they are striving for and why it matters. Gaining influence with people means gaining trust from people.
None of this is rocket surgery but I also know that in truth it’s not that simple.
