Kaptara volume 1

My fifteenth book of the year is another graphic novel from Image: Kaptara volume 1 written by Chip Zdarsky and drawn by Kagan McLeod.  It’s a wild tale of human beings stuck on a crazy planet with cat people, humanoid bugs, princesses and warriors, and a host of ridiculous creatures.  The art style is enjoyable and much of the dialogue is funny – including the panel featured here that shows how current the story elements are.  Unfortunately, the story just didn’t resonate with me.  I know some folks have loved this book, and Chip Zdarsky has written other well-liked books for other comics publishers.  But Kaptara didn’t capture my imagination so I am unlikely to read more.  Still I’m glad to have gotten this book along with the many other stories I picked up a few months ago in a “Humble Bundle”of Image comics.  I’m happy to keep checking out new comic stories and creators over the course of this year.
