A brief note on my 23rd book for the year, a collection of essays from John Brooks entitled Business Adventures: Twelve Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street. Brooks, who wrote for The New Yorker among other publications, delves into some of the big business stories of the 1960s in these well written reflections on a range of topics. The style is engaging and the analysis compelling as he unpacks the failure of the Edsel, the success of Xerox, and several notable scandals in large companies. If you have even a mild interest in financial history combined with an interest in leadership, character, and strategy I think you’ll enjoy reading these pieces.
