A quick note on my 18th read for the year, TW Hunt’s short book The Mind Of Christ. In many ways the books is a meditation on Philippians 2:5-11 which begins with the words, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” The book, which I’ve been reading slowly for the past month or two, reflects on what it means to have the mind of Christ – to think the way Jesus did – and how we can grow into this. I continue to find it useful and encouraging to start most mornings with a few minutes of reading from spiritual books, seeking to shape my thoughts in the right direction before plunging into my busy days. This is a book I first read 10-15 years ago but one I was glad to come back to this spring. Hunt’s style is a bit old fashioned, but I again found many of his insights both challenging and encouraging. I’m a firm believer in the fact that our mindset has a major impact on the way we live and so Hunt’s thoughts about cultivating the mindset of Christ made a strong impression on me. If you’re looking for a short book on this subject, I’d recommend giving this one a shot.
